Another great story in the NYC Doms series, and while its part of a series, it will easily read as a stand-alone. It does have several people from the first book, Deliverance, and they the two stories do intermingle with the close relationships between people and the BDSM club, Verge. The story has a great cast of characters, real-life emotions, mystery, and suspense, danger, angst, and is definitely a page-turner that I didn’t want to put down. I am already excited for more in this series.Beatrice Moore left her family and moved to NYC to be on her own, and overall has proven to be a successful businesswoman. She and Dina are best friends, and together they have formed a friendship that is stronger and closer than most families. Now they are each involved with a Dom and enjoy scening at a private BDSM club called Verge. She has some secrets that are going to be revealed.Detective Zach Williams is a dominant that has helped out with issues at Verge, where he is also a member. He met Beatrice at the club through her friend Diana who is engaged to Tobias, one of the club owners. The plot will have Beatrice and Zach involved with each other exclusively. When he discovers a stack of unopened mail at her apartment, he will tell her she needs to sort through it, where an invitation is found her to favorite cousin’s wedding. It is decided that she will attend and take Zach with her. The closer they get to her parents home, the more she frets. She has left out some key information about her family and their wealth. Then to learn that there is a man that her mother has tried to push her into a relationship adds to her stress level.“There was nothing like the adrenaline rush of an inner-city NYPD job to feed my need for control, order, and justice, my skills at piecing things together with skill leading me to become a detective.â€The story will have strange things start happening to Beatrice even at her parent’s and escalating after they leave and return by to NYC. Blocked phone calls, cards, flowers, and other issues will have both Beatrice and Zach on alert. It will have her on edge and snapping because she feels boxed in and he wants to keep her safe. When they are at the club or even in his home and in D/s mode, during and after scenes, she is fine, but it is slowly crashing in on her, and she will strike out at Zach and walk away in confusion.“It feels so good to call him sir. I feel little and precious, and cared for and I can’t deny it’s hot. It’s so wrong, but that’s partly why I love it. I was afraid that submitting to you meant I was somehow weaker. Not stronger.â€â€œMy job is to help her reach her full potential, to support her, and take care of her the best I can. And she takes care of me. Just because I’m the dom doesn’t mean that I don’t need her every bit as much as she needs me. She fulfills my need to protect but supports me as I am, no judgment. And it’s in that mutual give and takes that we find our fulfillment.â€â€œIt takes incredible strength to submit. I fought for her. And, I won.â€The story will take on life and death danger as Beatrice fights against Zach’s protection and allows her stalker to kidnap her. Be careful who you trust, and what their motives are. Maybe a seasoned detective is wise for making the decisions to keep the lady he loves safe. There is plenty of BDSM and spanking scenes, mostly in the context of scening rather than as a discipline with explicit sex scenes. There is also some minor violence by a cruel person with attempted rape.
Jane Henry has done it again,i was immediately drawn to Beatrice and Zack with the ups anddowns in their relationship. The author never fails to touch me in a deep part of my soul, she hasa understanding of the BDSM lifestyle that is accurate, detailed and honest. The characters areso real as they experience the emotional ramifications of living such a lifestyle. For Beatrice Moore, having a Dom who is a cop has definite benefits,Beatrice likes losing control and Zack is good attaming her.Having Zack escort her to her counsins wedding comes with its own set of problems.Beatrice has kept quiet about her family and the stay results in many surprises.Beatrice feelsvulnerable and out of place. She only told a small lie to get her ex off her back but Zack is not atall amused.Someone starts to mess around with Beatrice, small things go missing.Beatrice isreluctant to commit to Zack 24/7,she will have to face her fears and fully submit to him to findpeace.Beatrice has to face her past,a stalker, danger and her rebellious streak to find her wayback to Zack.I was snared by this book,it's a must read and was so easy to fall in love with.Zackwas so sexy, dominant, protective and made me weak at the knees while Beatrice was strong willed, rebellious but also intuitive,a great combination.Read and enjoy the fantasy of living the lifestyle.
Beatrice Ann Moore. God, how she hates that name! After walking away from the privileged life she's always known, is she prepared for a world she never knew existed? Laundry, cooking, paying bills, especially on time? But Zack, a NYC detective, is her Dom. He knows what she needs...structure, accountability, and stability. Can Bea accept that? Zack's as protective as they come. Bea reluctantly embraces submission but is it real? Zack's possessiveness pushes her buttons, forcing her into outright defiance. And Bea wants nothing more than weekends at Verge, the high-end BDSM club, and the occasional hookup with Zack. She's worked too hard for her independence. A 24/7 BDSM relationship may be fine for her best friend, Diana, but it's definitely not for her. The question remains, is she truly a submissive? Even she's not sure. When her carelessness pushes her into a situation she can't ignore, she has no choice but to finally open up to Zack. Attending a family wedding is the last thing Bea wants. She escaped her family once, built her own life. But her cousin, Chantilly, is the one remaining link to her family. She has to go. Zack's not about to let her go alone. The weekend's a disaster from beginning to end. Unknown to anyone, it also sets in motion a series of events no one's prepared for. As a loved one from the past reappears, Bea's life is thrown into turmoil. When Zack learns the threats against Bea are real, he does the one thing that could end them forever. Does he have a choice? As Bea learns Zack's broken the flickers of trust growing between them, rebellion, defiance, and anger take over. Once broken, can trust ever be repaired? When the ultimate betrayal threatens everything, can Zack look beyond the obvious? The better question is, who's behind all this? It all comes down to a single question. Just what will have to be sacrificed? In the end, nothing else matters! This book totally surprised me on every level. Bea's a strong-willed, conflicted woman. While she finds herself inexorably drawn to the submission of BDSM, she also fights it with everything in her. I've come to expect submissives, regardless of gender, to accept that part of themselves. That's not to say that every submissive in every book naturally and immediately accepts their submissiveness. It's often a journey toward self-awareness. But Bea's different, strong and defiant. She's worked so hard to be independent. But she's terrified of handing over control, truly being submissive. That's a duality that's more than unusual. It's fascinating. Zack's her polar opposite. He knows exactly who and what he is. Over-the-top dominant, BDSM and being a Dom aren't just what he wants. It's who he is. But there's so much more to Zack. True dominants have a need to nurture their submissives. Zack's character goes beyond just caring. There's an urgency to control. Bea has no desire whatsoever to be controlled. And control isn't just something Zack wants. It's ingrained into his very being. That's what engages and pulls you into this story from the beginning. These two are at odds with each other from the start. The constant push and pull between these two is riveting. The ever-changing agendas of every character in the book, the twists and turns around every corner, captivate and enthrall. The supporting characters inspire love, hate, and nearly every emotion in between. This is a book you can't put down! Jane Henry is always outstanding. This book proves it once again. Thank you, Ms. Henry, for writing a story that deserves nothing less than five stars! It's absolutely wonderful! One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author! She works very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice. Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
