Because of other obligations it took longer to finish this book. But on vacation I finished it. I loved it the last few chapters keep me in sixpence about what was going to happen next. Fantastic book I loved it and will look for more. As a child I always wondered about mermaids this book still has me believe they are out there. That is what I want to believe and I am 67 years old. Thank you for this book.

This series of books is what finally motivated my 8 year old daughter to read chapter books. She has now read the whole series and reads into the night and early the next morning. I definitely recommend these books to readers who are resistant to read "boring chapter books"! Nothing boring in these! :)

The lotteries are only one single path to prosperity. There are countless more. The book is not expensive, so it's a very small gamble. Much smaller than a lottery ticket. Get it. Read it. Do it. I didn’t realize it then but after reading this book I see many ways the law of attraction has worked in my life. I remember standing on the steps of a gothic cottage in my twenties and owning it in my 30s with just the knowledge that it was to be mine one day - to winning a 1,000 scratch off ticket. I knew with certainty in my soul each time, that my intentions would come to fruition. I’ve also been in the opposite direction living in fear of not having enough but I broke that cycle down with self talk. Now I’m ready to try the techniques in this book and see the universe bless me again and again .

A wonderful book for those who are interested in attracting money (or other desires) for themselves. I found this book to be a step-by-step guide to attracting your thoughts or things you want. I bought one $10 scratch off ticket yesterday and won $20!!!! The that whole day I began to think positive and imagine money attracting to me. I’m off to a great start! Thanks Eddie Coronado!

I enjoyed this book, got straight to the point without beating around like some of these other LOA books do. No secrets on how to manifest a desired life and he writes in an easy concise manner using the basic rules of manifesting....ask, believe, receive!

I like this book for two reason. First was to read about people who have successfully won using LOA. Second was learning each of their techniques.

Easy to read ....gives thought with suggestions on manifesting and what worked and what didn't for these lottery winners. Book was well organized, and even had a question and answer section. Worth getting the book. Informative!

An easy read. Techniques applicable to every aspect of Life. Visualization is a tool I have employed throughout my life to achieve everything I have sought. Learn it and achieve your goals. A primer for achieving.

I would have liked more detail in ways to win rather than just quotes from winners already.

I never did care much for the mailer's written bio; I loved the photos (by various photographers) from the first edition. I was always captivated by the Stern photos. Now this edition has been updated so that it's only stern photos. The photos are full page photos both in black and white and color nicely reproduced. Many of the fashion shots that you don't always see, and some colors as well. The size of the book is huge!!! much larger (and heavier) than the original edition. It it really a photo book printed on heavy paper (the photos will appear to be matte rather than glossy finish). It's true you can get all his photos in the complete last sitting (expensive) but some of these photos were small photos. It's also true many have been published in magazines, but do you want to have abut 50 magazines to look thru (and think of the thinness of the paper)? At a substantial discount on Amazon I was very happy to have this edition along with the original edition. As I said, it's for the photos!!!!

This is another great tribute to the late, great Marilyn Monroe. It captures her ethereal beauty w/ pictures seldom seen. A Hollywood icon we shall never forget who's life was cut far short.

This book should be a part of any Marilyn Monroe fan's collection. The pictures are breathtaking and the accounts from the photography are very interesting. You have to have this in your Marilyn collection!

The beauty of this book is the Stern photos and quotes by Marilyn. I've never been a Mailer fan and his rambling here does nothing to win me over. Stern's photos featured in the book have been published in other formats like the German Mag "Fotografie" No. 49. Explore other publications and compare before you make a purchase.

This book is about family and the issues they have as they work thru them. Grandma had a stroke and could no longer take care of herself. In fact, she almost burned down the farmhouse. Grandpa passed away years ago. Her granddaughter, husband and 4 month baby came to live with her. The whole family came several weeks later for Christmas. None of the family got along.Many issues happened while the family was together. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone.

I love this book! Excellent lessons about life and finding true happiness. I wish that I had grown up with a grandma Rose. The copy that I finished last night is one that I checked out from my local library, but I purchased my own copy here so that I can refer to it again for bits of needed wisdom. This book is a must-read and I love all of Lisa Wingate's books for the inspiration she gives to me. She speaks to the heart and, as you read, you are immersed in another time and place, but one that directly pertains to all places and times of your life. Presently, I'm waiting anxiously for the rest of the series to arrive in my mailbox.

i read 'before we were yours' (another one of the author's books), before i read this book, and loved it from beginning to end. 'tending roses' took awhile to get interesting for me. i liked the grandmother's stories that she wrote in her notebook and left for her granddaughter to read and think about. i do like the author's style of writing and will look for another one of her books.

Tending Roses is a must-read for everyone. It is a heart warming and heart wrenching book about family, love, marriage, parents/grandparents and faith. The main character Kate is one that you can relate to for many reasons, each personal to yourself, and then there is Grandma Rose, which many of you can relate to also in one form or another. Lisa writes from her heart and it goes straight to your heart. I read this book when it first came out 17 years ago and again this past month. 17 years ago, I had 5 kids from ages 6 to 16 and my mom was healthy. They have since grown and left the nest and my mom developed Alzheimers and was put in a memory care facility. She has since passed. The dilemma in this story is that Kate's family wants to put Grandma Rose in a nursing home and Kate, her newly born, sick baby and husband go to stay on the farm with Grandma Rose and that changes everyone's lives and how Kate feels about her Grandma Rose. As I said, you can relate to all the characters in some fashion, the faith that is intervoven in the story, and hopefully insights in the story will help you in your own life. A great read!!

This novel may have been published as mainstream fiction, since there were a couple of spots where the language was a surprise. As a Christian writer, Wingate's work doesn't deviate from her faith, but neither does she follow prerequisites or formulas. Her characters aren't perfect, churchy folk whose lives wrap up neatly at the end; nor do her plots always include a tear jerking conversion. That said, even non-criers might find themselves grabbing a kleenex. She's gifted and her work is exactly what I'm looking for: well-crafted stories that entertain and edify, with characters you care about.There is enough high anxiety every day on the news. This novel is a worthwhile journey you can take without getting all torqued up inside.

"Indian wisdom says our lives are rivers. . . . Each event, each person, changes us in some way. " This quote from the first page of the book is an indication of the kind of book this is. I loved reading about the changes in the lives of the characters. Grandma Rose did many things that irritated her family at times, and the family wanted to make a choice for her when they felt she could no longer live by herself on the farm that had been a part of her life for so many years. The life lessons she shared as stories throughout the book were so beautifully written and had such wisdom. If only more younger couples could benefit from the wisdom of an older person! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary Christian fiction with good family values without a lot of romance.

I loved Tending Roses! I felt at times I was reading a story about my own relationship with my Grandma. I found myself rereading lines just so I could absorb them and really think about the meaning they have in my own life. I loved the family story here! Kate Bowman takes her husband and newborn son to stay with her Grandma Rose on her farm before Christmas. The family hopes Kate can convince her that she needs to move away from her farm. Kate grows to understand her Grandma with each day she spends with her and learns so much from her. I was moved by Grandma Rose's story!The characters in this book are very likable and I could really relate to Kate! Grandma Rose reminded me of my Grandma in so many ways. This story is about family bonds and forgiveness. A relatable family with real struggles that works through their issues. I loved every minute of this book and will be recommending it to my friends. Lisa Wingate is a fantastic author!

Family - loving and messy, hurting and forgiving. Beneath it all, a sense of belonging. This is a story of a young mother who takes on the task of caring for her ailing grandmother. In the process, she begins to understand her grandmother, forgive her father and sister, and completely change the course of her life.As I read, I could identify with each character and enjoyed the small town feel. There were no major plot twists - just the daily walks and growth in the lives of the family. I felt like I was part of the family. I really enjoyed Grandma Rose’s stories throughout.This story touched my heart.

This book came referred to me from an excerpt from "Life's little instruction book" ...a series of little books with one paragraph "Words of wisdom" written by a dad, for his son, who was going off to college. (Which I also recommend). The dad, recommends to his son to read this book...so I bought it....it is a STELLAR compendium of the most compelling speeches in history. Simply fascinating. I have never heard of William Sapphire before, but I feel like he could have been a favorite college professor I never had! His own writing, I feel, is brilliant...and forces me t up my my vocabulary. I especially dig the fact that I can set the book down, to continue reading other novels I have queued up, and jump right back in to read more and more great speeches without missing a beat! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

As a compilation it is probably up there with the classics; it certainly isn't limited by genre, time, space, or ideology. And it has most of the classics, just to make the rhetoric professor comfortable in using it as a sourcebook.The real gems are safire's comments; they are the most pleasurable parts of the work. His writing is so clear, yet sufficiently nuanced that one can't pin him down as playing favorites even when one knows that he would find the speaker or the speech (or both) completely reprehensible.See, in particular, his comments to Rabbi Stephen Wise's speech at a Lincoln Memorial ceremony. It is the type of material than one can truly savor and enjoy.

This book (or reference guide) contains speeches from many famous presidents and foreign leaders that have changed the world. Although rather lengthy, it has little introductions before the speeches to set the stage that drastically increased my comprehension of the speeches. I would recommend this book to students and adults who want to learn rhetorical styles from the best that can be applied anywhere from business to everyday life.

This is an extraordinary book. Safire is one of America's leading political commentators.

Great book with some of the greatest speeches in American history.

Saffire is a great writer and that leads him to make many good choices. But like everyone, my thought are some were mediocre and many great were left out Many great sermons, inspirational talks, challenging talks that changed the course of countries but to each his own. None the less, I love reading one 2-4 page speech and then going on to other activities and letting the speech just read, sink in. worth the price and worth reading and thinking about.

Most people have heard of Erwin Rommel, at least in passing. But most people probably associate his name with only two events: World War Two tank battles in North Africa, and Rommel’s forced suicide by Hitler because of his ancillary association with Stauffenberg’s attempt to assassinate Hitler. And most people probably have a general sense that Rommel was not so bad a guy, relative to the Nazi regime as a whole (as low a bar as that may be). This book contradicts none of that, but provides a broader sense both of who Rommel was, and also provides a different perspective on World War One than we commonly have. Infantry Attacks is basically a war travelogue. It is an autobiography not of war anguish, but of war practice. Informally written, it features Rommel leading small units, usually involving fast action against other small units. We typically associate World War One with Western Front trench warfare, and although Rommel did fight there and records it, much of the book is concerned with other fronts.The first other front is the Carpathian border between Rumania and Hungary. (Well, what was then the border, before Transylvania was taken by the victorious Allies from Hungary, of which Transylvania had been a part for more than a thousand years, and given to the Rumanians to reward them for finally entering the war in 1916, when they figured out who was winning the war. Then the Rumanians also switched sides to gain advantage in World War Two.). The second is mountain warfare on the Austrian/Italian front, including the Battle of Caporetto, where Rommel won the Pour le Mérite, Germany’s highest military honor (informally called the Blue Max. and jarringly formally named in French, for historical reasons).The book is written primarily as an instructional manual, drawing lessons from the detailed small unit actions Rommel describes. In passing, it also burnishes Rommel’s reputation (which grew in interwar Germany in part due to this book), even though Rommel not infrequently criticizes his own performance. Finally, the book serves as a platform for Rommel’s thoughts on what constitutes an honorable German soldier, which are pretty much as you’d expect for the time and place.What strikes the modern reader most about the book is that it has a very different view of World War One fighting than we are used to. Most of the time, we think of World War One as unrelieved horror to no point, led by clueless generals and political leaders, featuring such low points as endless static trench fighting, Verdun, poison gas, and Gallipoli. Rommel enjoyed war, and he was good at it, and it shows continuously in the book. He frequently mentions how “exciting” a particular fight is, often in reference to “grenade duels.” He doesn’t spend any time at all navel gazing or reflecting on what lessons about human nature are being taught.His men apparently worshipped him (although that is only obliquely evident in the book). One gets the impression, though, that was not due to his common touch, which is nowhere in evidence, but to his demi-godlike stature as a man who led from the front and was able to minimize his men’s casualties. As he says, “Winning the men’s confidence requires much of a commander. . . . . But once he has their confidence, his men will follow him through hell and high water.” Sounds easy, but reading the book you can see the things he did to really put that into practice successfully. (Someone would doubtless have written a book on applying the lessons of Rommel to business, if not for the unfortunate Nazi overtones that such a book would generate.)We may think it’s odd, but we should remember that history and armies are full of examples of people who actually don’t mind, or actually positively enjoy, war, who nonetheless aren’t psychopaths or insane. It’s not just generals standing back from the battlefield, either—it’s just as much people like Rommel, engaged in “retail” war, who enjoy it.Infantry Attacks can feel repetitive, particularly for a reader who doesn’t know the relevant geography or military tactics in detail. I’m sure for a military practitioner, each skirmish and battle in which Rommel describes his and his men’s part in detail, complete with Rommel’s hand drawn maps and sketches, teaches its own valuable lessons. But even for a causal or non-military leader, there is a lot of value in reading the book. It gives an invaluable flavor of the time and the war, very different from what normally receive, and is therefore very much worth reading.

I found this book to be a very interesting read, particularly as we move through the 100 year anniversaries of some of the battles mentioned. The binding of my copy is excellent, the print is dark and clear. The subject matter is a discussion of actions personally commanded by the author in the format of battle reports with lessons learned. This book was written to be studied by future generations of infantry commanders and provides insight into the mind of the man himself. All in all a very splendid purchase.

This is an account of the small-unit infantry engagements in which Rommel and his units were principle forces during WW I. The lessons Rommel drew from these experiences directly influenced his fighting in WW II, particularly his constant reconnaissance, either personally or by designated groups. Rommel's successes often came from his intimate knowledge of the geography of his fights and, often, the precise disposition of his enemies.

Written about one of great tactical Generals of ww2, he was German, but not a nazi sympathizer, book reflects his development as an infantry officer in ww1 to his victories in critical battles during world war 2 ... Interesting reading and you must read it with an open mind just reflecting on the individual himself, involved in the plot of over throw the feuhrer, read on very involved and interesting ..

Through the questions he asked himself on battlefield, and his after action observations, you get a quick idea of how his thought process works. Also, may help explain how he achieved his early WW2 success.

265 pages that are packed with knowledgeable insights. Of course Rommel requires no introduction, his WWII exploits are well known. This book is a summation of his involvement in the learning of warfare, phase of his life in WWI. The events are clearly laid out for the reader to visualize. His hand made sketches accompany the text and most interesting is his after action analysis of an event and the lessons learned from it. Through his hand in this book you can see the WWII Rommel developing. His command learning, his actions show the daring, opportunity exploiting, deceptions, courage, excellent use of the local physical surroundings - he almost always found a way through or around an enemy position. He even learned by the mistakes he had made. The close combat scenes he relates add an additional flavor to the understanding of the infantryman's everyday plite.These are lessions that would have been useful from the American civil war through to today.

It is his personal recounting of his experiences, with notes of his lessons learned from each section. engagement. It was a relatively engaging read. I plan on buying this book Attacks as it is supposed to be a much better and more complete translation. I'm not sure about this one, but a lot of "infantry Attacks" are just reprints of the hastily translated version with parts missing and sections cut that might embarrass the Allies, printed in 1944."Attacks" published by Athena press went back and translated the original book and isn't missing any maps or drawings, it is also a lot better laid out.It is called 'Attacks' and not 'Infantry Attacks' and is also available on Amazon.But review wise on 'Attacks' that i am reading right now, Five Starts and a half. Rommel inspires me and it is a great read.

Ms. Gault's practice focuses on Real Property and Administrative law. While completing law school, she served as a law clerk at the Florida Department of Financial Regulation and her former law firm, Pennington, P.A. As a member of the Florida State moot court team, Ms. Gault took first place in 2012 Kaufman Memorial Securities Competition in New York City. Before buying this book, I communicated with the author Peter Dunbar about which version (Kindle or Paperback) I should get. He advised the paperback, which I purchased. The writing is clear and easy to read and understand, but here’s the “rub”: in Florida the law changes every year, and there are no updates to this book, paperback or Kindle. In many cases the book is not in-sync with the current law, as there have been several changes in the law since the book was published. So, it just about worthless. Peter Dunbar did a great service when he wrote this book, but today it’s of very little help, and hazardous if you rely on it.

This is a must have for any person who is on the Board of any Cooperative Community. Easy to read and understand. Explanations cite the law section allowing one to read the law that encompasses the area one is reading.

Good reading and understanding.

Very useful.

Absolutely necessary reference for any volunteer board member serving in a Florida resident owned co-op! I refer to it every week.
