A fantastic second book in a continuity series. The whole concept of this series of using an Amish community to protect those in need of witness protection is so intriguing. I loved the many twists and turns this book and the fact that some of the same characters from the first book were also in this book even though each book is written by a different author. This is well written.

This has been an awesome series. The heroine's son witness a murder, now the gang is out to silence him. The U.S. Marshals move him, his mom and sister to love at the him of an ex-cop who has gone back to his plain roots. Lot of action you will enjoy this. I have already purchased the next book in this series.

This is a can not put down story, keeps you on your seat through the whole story. A little bit of mystery, love for God, and romance.. excellent book...

I love the love inspired suspense books. The themes are upbeat and moral and good reading for my grandchildren when I’m done. No adult scenes to worry about when you share your books.

Phew! There are some crazy good heart-in-your-throat-running-for-your-life scenes in this book! I don't think my pulse has leveled out yet! There's something so edgy about a mom in fierce protector mode. I felt Julia's fear and panic and utter desperation. Such a contrast to Abraham's stoic calm. Some of that comes from his cop background, but a lot of it stems from his faith. I love the gentle way he shares his trust in God with the terrified woman who has stopped believing He cares.This is the second book in the Amish Witness Protection series but reads perfectly fine as a standalone. The series title sums up the common thread that links these three books. I really enjoyed the balance Giusti achieved between the Amish elements and the overall romantic suspense. It felt authentic and plausible. I'm a huge fan of Amish + suspense though meshing the two can be a delicate balance and sometimes stories fall flat. But this author has definitely succeeded in this new sub-genre.

The budding romance between Julia and Abraham is sweet and you can envision how it will endure. I love the way she addressed so many important subjects within this one story – everything from warring gangs, homeless people, hardships of divorce and single parenthood, difficulties in raising a teen – all without missing a beat in the rhythm of this wonderful story.AMSIH SAFE HOUSE, although part of series, can definitely be read as a standalone book. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves the Amish genre, a fabulous suspense book or a sweet romance. I will be looking forward to reading more books by this author.

This story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. They break into the apartment as she and her son hide in the bathroom. The police come and take them away. They go into Witness Protection.Ex-police Officer Abraham King is a widower. His wife and little daughter were killed by a criminal that wanted payback. He left the police force to live a quiet life in an Amish community. He has an extra house on his property where they can live. She will be his housekeeper. He will protect them with his life but can he keep his heart from breaking all over again?A struggle of hiding and learning a new life style while her son refuses to cooperate. God has plans for this new family, a plan of healing, love, and a future. God has a plan for you too. You might not have a gang after you but you do have an enemy that is out to steal, kill, and destroy you. Jesus came to give you life and that more abundantly. Laura Davis is an extraordinary writer. I have read the book (Kindle) several times, each time gaining new ideas and new insight. I would call this THE BIBLE for partners of incest survivors. A must read if anyone in your life is growing. I can only imagine the number of relationships Ms. Davis has saved with her work.

This book is very helpful. It was recommended by a marriage counselor that my partner and I were working with. "Allies in Healing" Offers varying situations and relationships and how situations from a persons past (the survivor) may bring feelings to the surface that may be hard to process and understand as partners or "allies". I still am in the process of finishing the book, but it has been very helpful in understanding some of the situations happening within my own relationship with my partner. How sometimes certain feelings or reactions, although may feel provoking, through some trial and error, I have found myself being able to communicate with my wife more effectively in these situations.On a second note, the copy of the book I purchased wasn't damaged, and was rather new. However, there was a large crack or bend in the back cover where it looks like the book was bent possibly in packaging or storage prior to delivery? Other than that, the shipment came as promised, and on time.

This book really helped my husband understand some of my behaviors that didn't make sense in the present tense situation...because I was reacting to something that had happened to me in the past and not a current issue. After reading this book, it helped so him to understand that he was not the issue, that I had scars that needed healing. It helped him to assist me and walk beside me. Knowing that he was not the problem, he was able to love my scars as part of who I am. The scars are healing. I honestly feel like this book helped to save our marriage. An absolute must read for anyone in a relationship with survivor of childhood sexual abuse. It wasn't until my relationship was abruptly ended that I began my search for answers. I believe that if I had the understanding of my partner that I now have after reading this book, my relationship would of been one of healing and progress instead of the survivor just trying to make it through.

I was in a dilemma with my survivor (and I am a survivor myself), and I found this book. I read it nonstop, except for the stories at the end which the author recommended I read slowly. This book is the most helpful source I have found so far for being a Partner. The perspectives are diverse, which is important because the attitudes between me and my survivor change. There is a little bit of something for almost every scenario. Mostly, the book provides a "yay! I'm not alone, this really does suck" feeling, which was essential for me to give myself an attitude shift and continue on. After reading this book I realized that my method for solving the dilemma I was in was not working for either of us, and I was able to find a good compromise and understand my survivor from a more fundamental place. I was also able to understand my own role as a Partner more intuitively. I am now seeking additional support as recommended by the book and my life is so much better already! Buy this, if only for the dozens of resources listed at the end of the book for where to get additional perspectives, reading, help, groups.

Ready to read. A great perspective for the loved ones of assault survivors. Probably saved my relationship.

I went through all the essays in this book and flagged the ones that really stuck out to me. Then, I tried to figure out what was so great about my favorite essays. This helped me find out what I liked as a reader -- the first step to becoming a good writer. After that, it was just a matter of practicing getting my essay to sound like me.Aside from inspiration, a great way to use this book is to help the people (and there should be MANY of them) who will be critiquing your personal statement. For friends who didn't understand what a law school PS should look like, I'd ask them to read one of the essays in this book, then read my PS. This gave them context for what they should be looking for and helped me get good feedback! And it worked -- I'm going to a top 3 school in the fall (:

As I applied for the law school application cycle, I found that this law school application is wildly outdated. I should have double checked on the date of publication and of the essays themselves, but figured the "Harvard Law School" title would still give me useful tips on writing a personal statement. Going into law school or applying to it has become very different compared to when this book was written.

These are supposed to be some of the best law application essays. But I disagree. Maybe a third or a 4th of the essays are not that well written. Maybe I expect too much from Harvard.The essay examples remain helpful as it gives you ideas on how to go about developing your own law essay. It is reassuring that a significant number of the essays are about ordinary experiences; sometimes they are about a single moment of a few minutes in their lives and they use that to elaborate on their thoughts and how that led them to their desire to become lawyers. So, not everyone has a mother Theresa type of experience that they wrote about. Essays are written by people who entered from different majors and ages, including older applicants who were working for several years and decided on a complete career change. The critiques by the Crimson staff are helpful and usually they are the similar to my own critique. The essays are grouped into general topics.

Good story

Interesting and scary ghost story. The author states it is based upon his family’s experience making it even more terrifying. Please understand the author is British. The language used is British English, not American English. His spelling and use of words is not wrong to my knowledge. I am an American and I was able to understand it. I did get lost in the story.

Interesting, especially to those of you who love to read paranormal books based on true events. Looking forward to reading the sequel

"The Skipton Haunting" is a different horror story that mixes elements of folklore with the daily life of a family that moves to a haunted house. It is a different story because is mainly narrated through dialogue. A vibrant, lively dialogue that uses slang terms and dialect. The characters are defined mainly by their dialogue and their actions, and we see their evolution as a family and the problems they encounter when they move to a haunted house. As they investigate, they discover new facts about the woman, her daughter, and a mysterious entity or demon (I won't mention it, so no spoilers) that terrorize the family. In a metaphorical level, the story has the classical theme of the witch/woman that takes revenge on abusive men, a legend that can be found in the folklore across the world, and in this case, is focused in a concrete area of UK, the triangle formed by Skipton Road, Newton Escomb and Harrogate. So this a local legend, and it was discovered by the author of the book when he moved to the haunted house.As I said, "The Skipton Haunting" is a different horror story, and it uses a dynamic cinematographical approach to narrate the facts. That means a lot of action, conversations centered on the daily life of a family, and visually impacting images. It is mainly a narrated documentary about a family that moves to a haunted house. It was entertained to read because I love old folklore stories. And this story was a discovery.
