"I couldn't sleep thinking about the possibility of escaping hell". This book is a discussion on the thought process of how to make one of life's big decisions. It tells an intimate story about a father, a baby, a family.... How to "escape" the business world that causes his baby not to recognize him when he returns home from a long trip. There are many lessons in this book to apply to your own life, your own situation. Lessons based in Greek mythology, lessons from the bible.. One story paints a vivid view of Jonah spending time in the whales stomach. A view of depth and despair. However, Jonah repents and is now able to fulfill his mission. Many of us have had dark nights, but with focus you are able to find your mission. This book tells a story and is a reference book of teachings that can empower you to find your personal balance between work and/or home. A highlighter and note taking is recommended.

I've read many books about how to move forward in life, take risks, and make a future that honors one's own truth. This wonderful little book is geared to the entrepeneurial souls among us, but it also serves up powerful wisdom for ANY individual wanting to make change for the better. What I found most compelling was the profound transformation the author made in his own life, using basic principles and listening to his inner compass. His trajectory from the dark side of the corporate world to living a life of integrity and love for his family and fellow humans was nothing short of miraculous. It's a rare thing that a person can make a complete about-face and create a sustainable new life filled with joy, deep meaning and passion, all of which are reflected in the work he now does, helping both individuals and corporations to be the best they can be on many diverse levels. The author's personal journey was the perfect vehicle to illustrate the accessible principles offered by this gem of a book. Highly recommend.

We may think we are alone on the herione’s journey but we aren’t. The universal wisdom that this book brings is carnated by the life of the authors journey. While applicable to one story, you can feel the universality of the the courage and integrity it takes to respond to the call of the heart when there is so much fear. Somuch cultural, familial, and psychological pressure to not unfurl your wings for fear that are not worthy of the challenge. Patrick has been an outstanding teacher and mentor to me for over 15 years in my journey as an entrepreneur. He is honest, humorous, crystal clear and incredibly empowering and supportive. Patrick synthesizes his own personal experience with a talent for teaching via the universal medium of myth and storytelling in a compelling fashion. I think one of the great things about discussing values through the medium of story/myth is that it accesses an intuitive and experiential approach (e.g., through mythic analogy) to thinking resolving inner conflict, rather than a solely reductive/overly intellectualized approach. Highly recommended.
